How does mobile car valeting work?
Step by step, from booking to paying, and when our centre on Corstorphine Road is the better choice.
A mobile valet is one of our valets, done where your car already is: at home, at work or anywhere convenient. It’s the same team and the same products as our centre on Corstorphine Road. Here’s how it works, from booking to paying, so you know what to expect before you book.

Which areas does Autofoam’s mobile valeting cover?
Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. We can valet the car at your home, at your workplace or anywhere convenient, as long as we can park beside it with room to work round it.
How do I book a mobile valet?
Send us a booking request on our booking page. There are four steps:
- Service. Choose “We come to you”, then pick your valet. Not sure which one the car needs? Choose “Not sure yet” and we’ll check the car and advise.
- Vehicle. Tell us the size of the car (small, medium or large), its make and model, and how it’s looking. You can add a photo of the inside: if it needs more than you’ve booked, we’ll text you before the day.
- When. Pick the day and time that suit you.
- Details. Your name, mobile and email, and the address where the car will be. Use the notes for anything we should know, like dog hair or a stain on the back seat.
It’s a request, not a confirmed booking. We’ll get in touch to confirm the time with you, and the car isn’t booked in until we have.
What does the mobile valeting van bring?
Its own water, and the same products we use at the centre, which are eco-friendly. What we need from you is somewhere we can park beside the car, with room to work round it.
Do I need to be at home for a mobile valet?
No. You don’t need to be there while we work, so the car can be valeted at home while you’re out, or at your workplace while you get on with your day. If there’s anything we should know about where the car is parked, put it in the notes when you book.
How long does a mobile valet take?
It depends on the valet you choose:
- Bronze valet: 1.5 to 2 hours. The proper tidy-up: a full exterior wash and interior vacuum, windows, dash and console cleaned, door shuts cleaned and tyres dressed.
- Silver valet: 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Everything in Bronze, plus a full exterior HD hand polish, tar spots removed, the wheels deep cleaned and the windows polished inside and out.
- Full interior valet: 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Carpets and mats shampooed, and the seats deep cleaned and shampooed or, if they’re leather, given a 2-stage clean and cream, with the dash and console cleaned and dressed. For kids, dogs and muddy boots.
- Gold valet: 4 to 5 hours. Our most complete valet: the Silver exterior plus the full interior shampoo. Everything, inside and out.
When do I pay for a mobile valet?
When the job is finished. Nothing is taken when you book. The final price depends on the size and condition of the car, and we’ll confirm it before we start. You’ll find each valet’s price on our mobile valeting page.
When is the centre on Corstorphine Road the better choice?
When you want something a mobile valet doesn’t cover. These are done at our centre only:
- The Basic valet, a quick wash and interior vacuum that takes 30 to 45 minutes.
- The extras: engine clean, chassis clean, soft-top clean and seal, machine polishing and paint renovation, and the taxi and private hire test valet.
- Ceramic coatings.
The centre also suits you if you’d rather stay with the car: you can wait or park while it’s done, and you don’t need to book to drive in. We’ve been on Corstorphine Road for over 10 years: you’ll find us at number 227, opposite Edinburgh Zoo, open 7 days a week, 9am to 5pm, including Sundays and bank holidays.
